In our last post, we discussed things to keep in mind when planning a breast augmentation in your 20s. Let’s now move on to women in their 30s and 40s.

Fulfilling a Long-Standing Goal

In my experience, there are many reasons why this age group often gets breast augmentation surgery here in Portland. At this point in life, many women now have the financial means to afford cosmetic surgery that they may have wanted since they were teenagers. They may want to look and feel younger again or boost their confidence. They may also want to correct symmetry or restore their breasts after major weight loss.

Ready At Last, After Pregnancy

Additionally, many women in their 30s and 40s have had a pregnancy or two, which can cause great changes to their breasts. This change starts at around 6 to 8 weeks of pregnancy. Some women go up a size or 2 — and breastfeeding can often have the opposite effect, leaving the breasts looking deflated. A breast augmentation can restore this lost volume, and when paired with a breast lift, it can fix the sagging too.

Of course, you do not need to wait to finish having children to get a breast augmentation — but you do need to understand that a future pregnancy can alter your results. Many women weigh the pros and cons of augmentation with the possibility of having to get a breast revision later in life. If you aren’t planning on having kids for a while, it may be worth it to get your surgery now.

Additionally, many women decide to combine their breast surgery with liposuction or a tummy tuck for a procedure called a mommy makeover. Some are also interested in how BOTOX® Cosmetic or injectable fillers can provide non-surgical facial rejuvenation to complement their new body contours. Your 30s and 40s can be a great time to get the body you’ve always wanted, and now is a great time to address all the specific concerns you may have about your body.
