Your Breast Reduction

A breast reduction reduces the size of disproportionately large breasts. By reducing your breast size, you may also benefit from:

  • Back, neck, and shoulder pain relief
  • Reduced sagging or stretched skin
  • Improve your self-esteem
  • Body contours that are balanced and proportionate
  • Comfortably engage in physical activities
  • Build confidence in choosing your wardrobe selections
  • Experience relief with healing rashes under your breasts or bra strap grooves on your shoulders

Breast reductions can be performed in conjunction with a breast lift or fat grafting with use of liposuction to create the outcome you are hoping to achieve.

Procedure & Recovery

In addition to other methods, our surgeons perform “short scar” breast reduction. This method can achieve results with less scarring than other techniques; however, not all surgeons have the education or experience to offer the short scar option. With the short scar technique of breast reduction, incisions are made around the areola, then directly downward to the breast crease. This method of breast reduction does not make a horizontal incision along the breast crease, causing less scarring than other breast reduction methods.

It is with the use of this incision (often compared to a lollipop) that excess breast skin and tissue are reduced. After your breast reduction, bandages will reduce breast movement, to protect your results and reduce discomfort. After the bandages have been taken off, a special surgical bra must be worn. You will be instructed to avoid strenuous activity for several weeks. Although the healing process differs from patient to patient, following instructions after surgery can help ensure a quick, comfortable, and complete recovery from breast reduction.
