What to Expect During Your Brow Lift Procedure

The first step of your brow lift procedure will be to have a private consultation with one of our knowledgeable plastic surgeons. You and your provider will discuss your specific goals for the procedure, your medical history, and any questions or concerns you may have. At Portland Plastic Surgery Group, your brow lift will take place at an outpatient surgery center. You will be administered general anesthesia, which will keep you peacefully asleep throughout the procedure. Your surgeon will make several small incisions hidden beneath your hairline.

He or she will then insert a device called an endoscope beneath the skin, which will provide them with the vision they need to perform the surgery with precision. They will then be able to carefully tighten your underlying facial tissue while also tightening and/or removing any loose, sagging skin. In total, your brow lift procedure will take approximately one to three hours. Our team will then monitor you for a couple of hours to watch for any complications and to allow you to recover from the anesthesia. After that, you can have someone you trust drive you home.

Your Brow Lift Recovery

After your brow lift surgery, you’ll need to spend roughly one to two weeks resting and recovering at home. You’ll experience swelling, soreness, and bruising in the treated area, but sleeping with your head elevated can help reduce these symptoms. Additionally, your surgeon will prescribe you pain medication. As soon as you feel up to it, you’ll want to start taking light walks around your home periodically to keep your blood flowing. You should also get plenty of rest and keep yourself hydrated. Although you can start gradually resuming your normal daily activities after a week or two, you’ll need to wait at least four to six weeks before engaging in strenuous physical activity.

Brow Lift FAQ

What are the risks associated with a brow lift?

A brow lift, like all surgical procedures, comes with certain risks. These include an adverse reaction to the anesthesia, infection, bleeding, and poor wound healing. However, you can minimize these risks by having the procedure performed by one of our expert plastic surgeons at Portland Plastic Surgery Group.

How soon will I see the full results of my brow lift?

Although you’ll see immediate improvements to the appearance of your upper face after your brow lift surgery, it will take around three to six months for the complete results to become visible.

Are the effects of a brow lift permanent?

While the results of your brow lift will be long-lasting, the procedure will not prevent your facial skin from continuing to age. The effects of the procedure will last for several years or longer, but you can prolong your results by taking proper care of your skin and minimizing direct sun exposure.

Will my results look natural?

At Portland Plastic Surgery Group, our surgeons employ a brow lift technique that focuses on lifting and tightening the underlying musculature and tissue of the face. This allows them to deliver exceptionally natural-looking results that are both subtle and transformative.

How long do the results of a brow lift last?

Results can vary but typically last between 5 to 10 years. Factors such as genetics, lifestyle, and overall skin care can affect the longevity of the results.

Can a brow lift be combined with other facial procedures?

Yes, a brow lift is often combined with other procedures like eyelid surgery or facelifts to enhance the overall rejuvenation effects. Your surgeon can recommend the best combination of procedures based on your aesthetic goals.
